Exit Signs and Emergency Lights

Company Inspections are duties that seem at times repetitious, but are neccesary, to keep buildings safe for occupants, and emergecncy workers.  Emergency lights are required to illuminate 90 minutes after the electricity shuts off.  They are powered with a battery backup.  The battery with a full charge should last 90 minutes.  For firefighters, emergency lights, light an area, that other wise, would remain dark and unchartered.  Its not so easy,  going into a building such as a factory or large assembly, at night with no emergency lights.  It just takes a little light to make a path visible.

Just think of how confusing it would be if there were no exit signs.  Exit signs identify a safe way out.  Unlike emergency lights, electrical exit signs are illuminated at all times.  Battery back up kicks in when the electricity goes out, providing a visual of where the exit door is at.  It is required that an electrical exit sign be illuminated at all times, and even when the power is out, battery back up, is automatically initiated.  I can’t imagine being in a large building with no visible exit signs.  Exit signs point to the way of safe travel.

Application:  Emergency lights and Exit signs are part of safety initiatives enforced, for our life safety.  The Bible speaks of the Word of God being a “Light.”  The Old Testament book of Psalms 119 v. 105, says,Gods Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”   God’s word is illuminating, especially during dark times.  When my feet are quick to take me the wrong way, Gods word is quick to nudge me to the right way.  His Word lights up the way.  Jesus said “ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.   Rev 3 v.20.”  Jesus is offering us an exit.  Yes an exit from a life filled with sin and confusion, to a life illuminated by God’s love for all mankind.  So when you feel Jesus knocking on your hearts door, open the door and exit the old life and enter the new life with Jesus.  He is the emergency light that never grows dim.

Be a bright light for someone this week.  Point them to Jesus.
